Who can have an online dyslexia assessment?

Online dyslexia assessments are available for students aged 12 and over, including secondary school pupils, college students, university students and adults.

They are particularly useful for people who live outside Surrey, elsewhere in the UK, or overseas. Before booking, I will check that online assessment is appropriate for the individual and that the necessary technology and assessment conditions are in place.

How does an online dyslexia assessment work?

The assessment explores a range of areas linked to dyslexia and literacy development. Depending on age and individual needs, this may include reading, spelling, writing, phonological processing, working memory, processing speed and underlying abilities.

Background information is also gathered to understand educational history, previous support and current concerns.

Is an online dyslexia assessment valid?

Yes. A diagnostic dyslexia assessment can be completed remotely where online assessment is appropriate and recognised assessment procedures are followed.

When will I receive my report?

Your detailed diagnostic report is usually completed within two weeks of the assessment.

The report explains the findings clearly and includes practical recommendations tailored to the individual for education, the workplace and everyday life.
